World Summit on Arts and Culture 2023.

Registration open for the 9th World Summit on Arts and Culture

The 9th World Summit is scheduled to take place in Stockholm, Sweden from 3–5 May 2023. The 9th World Summit is co-hosted by the Swedish Arts Council and the International Federation of Arts Councils and Culture Agencies (IFACCA). The summit will bring together leading policymakers, researchers, and practitioners from the arts and culture sectors to discuss how to safeguard artistic freedom.

Artistic freedom entails rights recognised and protected under international law. Worldwide, policymakers and advocates have driven the improvement of the conditions for artists and the protection of free artistic expression. However, while progress has been made, some situations have worsened.

The 9th World Summit plays a vital role to lead global thought for arts and culture and explore the influences that affect – and shape our conceptions of – artistic freedom, and how we might safeguard it.

The programme for the 9th World Summit is developed in collaboration with an International Programme Advisory Committee (IPAC), comprising leaders from across the international arts and culture sector, along with representatives from the Swedish Arts Council and IFACCA, as the co-hosts of the Summit.

World Summit 2023 takes place in collaboration with, among others, the City of Helsingborg, the City of Stockholm, the Embassy of Canada, Moderna Museet, Region Skåne, Riksteatern, the Stockholm City Hall, the Swedish Arts Grant Committee and Visit Stockholm.

More information about the registration, programme and other details related to the Summit are available on the World Summit website.
