One week in November we went to Tokyo with a delegation of Swedish children’s book publishers to learn about the Japanese book market, visit Japanese colleagues and exchange ideas.

We are now looking back to see what we accomplished during this year. Swedish literature still travels wide and far, and despite the downward trends, it’s highly satisfying to see that there is still interest in reading books from all over the world, to meet and talk about books, exchange ideas and listen to other perspectives.

Three award winners of the August Prize 2023 and the title Best Swedish Book of the Year were announced on November 27th in the categories Fiction, Non-fiction, and Children's and Youth Literature.

The Swedish author received the prize for her genre-transcending work, Ihågkom oss till liv.

October 18 – October 22, 2023. This year, the Swedish stand will be in 4.1 B21.

Book talks and tour in USA, book launch in France and focus on Swedish and Nordic literature at festivals in Turkey, Germany, and Serbia. These are some examples of what was being granted in the third application round of grants for international promotion of Swedish literature and drama.

This year we had the pleasure of having twelve publishers and eight translators in our Fellowship program at the Gothenburg Book Fair.

The second application round for 2023 Nordic and Non-Nordic translation grants has now closed. For this round we received 133 applications of which 97 were accepted.

The selection of participants in our fellowship program at the Gothenburg Book Fair 27–30 September is now official!

For the second distribution round 2023, we have received applications from 15 countries. New applicants and new literary authors are included in this grant round, which also supports the international visibility of several Swedish female writers of comics.
