Allocation of funding for promotional activities
For the first distribution round 2024 of our Grants for international promotion of Swedish literature and drama, we have granted applications from 17 countries. Among others, we support the international visibility of children’s literature, experimental poetry and Swedish drama.
Some of the projects that we support
The online platform Scrypth is granted funding to promote Nordic experimental literary works. Over the coming year, works will be commissioned from Swedish poets and from Swedish publications/publishers. An addition to the project will be a series of commissioned responses to the works of Öyvind Fahlström, a pioneer of the Swedish avant-garde.
We support the invitation of the Swedish authors Oskar Kroon and Gabriella Sköldenberg to the Festival Storie Controvento - a literature festival for children. The festival encourages young readers to explore the world of literature by offering a diverse range of genres and languages. The four days festival is arranged by Associazione Culturale Albatros and held in the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland.
The Swedish embassy in Malaysia is granted for Jom kita bincang – let’s talk about it: children’s literature. It is a project that promotes Swedish children's literature/picture books through extensive arrangements. Using Swedish children's books as a starting point, the project aims to to strengthen the role of children’s literature in education and culture, and to strengthen cultural exchange between Sweden and Malaysia.
The ASSITEJ Polish Centre is organising the KORCZAK International Festival of Theatres for Children and Young People. The festival is being supported for a programme that includes panel talks with Swedish playwrights and Colombine Teaterförlag, table discussions based on Swedish drama with Swedish and Polish playwrights and staging of plays by Åsa Lindholm and Kristian Hallberg. The aim of the project is to promote Swedish drama for young people in Poland and to create a platform for exchange between Swedish and Polish artists working with youth.
