Children's literature in the Spotlight
For the third distribution round of grants for international promotion of Swedish Literature and drama in 2024, we approved 13 applications. Extra prominent for this allocation are attendance at book fairs and literary festivals involving Swedish picture books and children’s literature.
Some of the projects that we support:
Orecchio acerbo: Sara Lundberg will participate in the Zafferana Etnea BookFest in Sicily, presenting her literary work to children, art students and researchers of children's literature. In Rome she will be hosted at the Palazzo delle Esposizioni for a training course, and a workshop for children at the Scaffale d'arte.
Two Wrens: Travel to Sweden for research on Swedish Children's Picture Books for Jeonju International Picturebook Fair 2025, South Korea.
And the support of activities that have now concluded:
Verlag Freies Geistesleben & Urachhaus GmbH: Travel for Jenny Jägerfeldt to the Frankfurt Book Fair and the award ceremony for the Deutscher Jugenliterature.
Lilla Piratförlaget: Travel for Pija Lindenbaum to the Frankfurt Book Fair and the award ceremony for the Deutscher Jugenliterature.
Hamelin APS: Frida Nilsson participation at Lector Ragazzi, the space for children’s literature, during the cultural festival Lectorinfabula, Italy.
This allocation also supports:
Modern Culture: Stories from Sweden. A project to promote Swedish literature through literary events and workshops, involving authors and translators, across UK and Ireland in 2025.
Udruženje Srebrno drvo: Christina Ouzounidis attendance at the Festival of European Drama in Belgrade, Serbia.
