Funding Allocated for Nordic and Non-Nordic Translations
The third round of applications for Nordic and Non-Nordic languages 2024 has been finalized. The Swedish Arts Council has accepted 115 applications, of which 41 were allocated to children’s and YA literature – the focus genre in the work of Swedish Literature Exchange this year.
Twelve applications from Italian publishing houses were approved. This was the highest amount from one specific country, followed by Spanish (9 approved applications) and French (also 9 approved applications). The writers with the most applications were Lisa Ridzén When the Cranes Fly South (Tranorna flyger söderut), Liv Strömquist The Pythia Talks (Pythian pratar) and Johan Rundberg’s chapter books Månvind & Hoff (Nattkorpen, Tjuvdrottningen, Dödsängeln, Ormsaltaren).
We are also delighted that eight works of poetry will be published in different languages shortly, amongst others Magnus William-Olsson (into Spanish) and Ida Börje (into Danish).
