Swedish poetry in motion

The first distribution round of grants for international promotion of Swedish literature and drama in 2025 has been decided. In this allocation, we support 23 literary projects in 16 different countries, involving around 50 Swedish authors.

Seven of the applications granted concern the dissemination of Swedish poetry. Three of the supported projects are:

The Faroe Islands Literature Festival was granted funding for the invitation of Anna Fohlin Mattson and Johan Jönsson. The festival, which took place from February 26 to March 3, focused on the environment and (neo-) colonialism in the North, facilitating author conversations about the relationship between nature and literature, poetry, and interdisciplinary writing.

Page Break - Riga International Poetry Festival is supported for the invitation of Anna Hallberg. The festival takes place from April 23 to 26 and includes several poetry readings, panel discussions, student meetings, and poetry performance. The festival aims to open doors to contemporary poetry, create links between Latvian and foreign poets and enrich the translated poetry in Latvian.

In 2025, Éric Pesty Éditeur celebrates 20 years as a publisher by inviting the Swedish poetry festival Ny Gås to Marseille for a third edition, entitled L'Oie nouvelle. The festival is modelled on the Ny Gås, poetry festival, which has been organised twice in Sweden by CHATEAUX. The festival is granted funding to invite seven Swedish poets, including Beata Berggren and Martin Högström, to the festival, which runs from 16–18 May.
