Swedish Academy’s Interpretation Prize 2026
Dagmar Hartlová and Miho Hellén-Halme awarded the Swedish Academy’s Interpretation Prize. The prize is awarded for valuable interpretation of Swedish fiction into foreign languages. The prize amount is 60,000 Swedish kronor each (about 5 500 Euros).
Dagmar Hartlová, born 1951, translates mainly works from Swedish into Czech. She has translated works by authors including Göran Tunström, Astrid Lindgren, Selma Lagerlöf and Kerstin Ekman. She has also worked as a university lecturer and editor. In 2014, she was awarded the Royal Order of the Polar Star (Nordstjärneorden) in recognition of her services to Sweden and Swedish culture.
Miho Hellén-Halme, born 1975, translates from Swedish into Japanese- She translates fiction, non-fiction and children's and young adult literature, as well as drama. The authors she has translated include Astrid Lindgren, Lars Norén, Sven Lindqvist and Bea Uusma. She has received several awards for her translations in Japan, most recently for Niklas Natt och Dag’s novel Hope and Destiny (Ödet och hoppet).
